Baby Binky Bunny

Even though Easter has come and gone, I just had to show you this adorable little bunny I made for my little one! It’s the perfect Easter gift, but could be given any time of the year. Once I saw this little bunny, I didn’t have to think twice about what the Easter Bunny was putting in her basket this year. I have big plans to make her a blanket to match the bunny’s binky, so they can be nap time pals. Shhh, don’t tell her… it’s a surprise.

I found the Baby Binky Bunny pattern when I was wasting time on Pinterest, months before Easter. It was hard to wait so long to make if for her, but it was worth it. Larissa over at mmmcrafts made an AMAZING pattern! I’m telling you, this lady is a pattern genius. Her pattern was super easy to follow and she’s included a lot of clearly drawn diagrams. To be honest, I can’t sew. But this bunny was too cute to pass up. So I whipped out my sewing machine and with a little help from my good friend, Google, I did it! Yes, there was cursing. And yes, the bunny may have been thrown across the room once twice. But, I’m learning. So I just followed the pattern and did the best I could. I think it looks pretty cute… as long as you don’t look too closely. I got the linen and felt at JoAnn. And the fabric is called Freshcut 2011, by Heather Bailey. I got a charm pack on Etsy. You can add actual buttons to the diaper, but because my daughter is so young, I went with the embroidery option instead. I wasn’t about to attempt a circle, so I learned how to make a French Knot and just piled a bunch together. I also embroidered my daughter’s name on the back of the diaper, next to the tail. Just when I thought it wasn’t possible for it to get any cuter, along came the binky. ADORABLE.
This is definitely one of my favorite things I’ve ever made. I learned a lot along the way, so I’m excited to try more sewing projects. When I showed the bunny to my mom, she said, “WOW! You made this? I didn’t know you were so talented!” Thanks mom. And thank you
Larissa, for such a cute pattern. *Virtual high-five* I can’t get over how cute this little bunny is. I hope you’ll try making one too if you’re considering it. It’s guaranteed to make your child very happy!

(high five, up high, down low) See? You can totally sew. Throwing it across the room is all part of the process. Your bunny turned out so well! Thank you for the kind words about the pattern and the linkage.

Wow! It’s offical: I’m in LOVE with this adorable little bunny. It looks really hard to make but from what you say in your description it’s really easy? I may have to try and make this bunny one day when I have little ones of my own. Or, perhaps I’ll make one for myself because it’s just so cute? Great job! :)

It’s probably not the easiest sewing project you could start with, but the pattern is very well written so you can definitely do it if you want to! If you already have a little sewing experience, you’ll be just fine! :)

Super stinking cute! You did a great job! My sewing machine and I almost always have words and I’m a not so good experienced sewer. I think sewing machines just don’t like people!

Thank you!! Now I know I’m not alone!! That’s too funny :) I definitely have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. Sometimes I feel like I have mad sewing skills, and others I think I should never sew again! I like to blame my machine even when the problem is just me :)

You have a very cute blog by the way!

Oh my goodness that is adorable! Love the colors you chose. Beautiful execution. I have no sewing skills either, so if you say you could do it, so can I! One day, when I have kids… which is still quite in the future, so we’ll see.

Thank you! And you’re absolutely right, if I can do it so can you!! And it’s never too early to start a project because once you do have kids, you won’t do half of what you wanted to do {speaking from experience}! :)

I think I’m going to officially rewind the clock and have Easter–just to make this. And the picture of your baby’s hands holding it–that’s what got me!! I’ve got a 10 month old and I might go make this tomorrow, just so I can see her hands clutching this cuteness!! you did a fabulous sewing job!! I’m subscribing to you by email now, and I’d love for you to stop by my blog sometime:)

That’s funny you say that because I keep finding all kinds of Easter projects I missed too! My daughter is 14 months old now and she likes to hug her animals, so it’s very nice seeing her squeeze something I actually made for her. Your daughter will LOVE it! Mine doesn’t pay attention to the binky yet, but I’m hoping when she gets older and we start having some nap time problems, I can give her a matching blanket and they can nap together! That’s probably wishful thinking but I can dream :) Thanks for the sweet comment and I’m going to check out your blog right now!

That has got to be the cutest bunny ever!!! I don’t believe that you can’t sew ;) Are you sure about that? Have you seen what you just made? Like your mom said, you are one talented gal!!! And no, you are not too old for one… I want one too! Whoever said that toys are just for the little ones;)
